Finding Peace When You are Anxious: Truth in a Shifting Culture

In a culture that celebrates each person’s rendition of it, truth has become a moving target in our society. Although it may be admirable to receive each person’s ideals without judgments or prejudice, we have become a world built on shifting sand, easily swayed, destined for destruction when the first wind blows.
 
And then there’s God.
 
I was standing in church yesterday, lifting my hands in worship and singing a song about God’s holiness, proclaiming the words that there is no one like Him. He alone is holy. He only is worthy of praise. He is God.
 
And I realized – God is my absolute truth. When the world wavers in what it holds to be true, God never changes. Who He is never wavers. He is steadfast in a storm.
 
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17 NIV
 
He is ever faithful. His love unconditional. His word unchanging.
 
If you are anxious about the future or even the next 60 seconds of your life, God is rock solid. He is your peace. You can lean on Him, hide in Him, trust in Him.
 
He is your peace in troubled times. Your anchor in the midst of a storm.
 
If you can grasp that – then everything else becomes inconsequential. Life will begin to make sense again. Confusion will flee as clarity settles in. Your pathway will become clear. Your heart will feel whole again when you can say that God is your absolute truth. 
 
“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” John 14:6
