The end of the year is quickly approaching. I wonder—how has your 2024 been so far? Have you accomplished all your plans? Have you experienced all you hoped to? It’s not too late to evaluate and adjust. Read this... “Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.” (Psalm 126:5-6 NKJV)
I love this version because of those two highlighted words: continually and doubtless. Keep sowing. Keep believing. There will be a harvest! It’s not too late to finish the year strong. There is still time to...
You may have hit some bumps in the road. You may have had to detour when you got that call from your mom or you got laid off from work or a tree went through your roof... Whatever has scrambled your plans—work, life, health, others—before you chide yourself for “dropping the ball” this year, take a step back to look at the whole picture. Breathe. Pray. Evaluate and consider: Of all your great plans for this year, which of those can and should still be pursued? “There are many plans in a man’s heart, nevertheless, the Lord’s counsel—that will stand.” (Proverbs 19:21) It’s easy to overcommit. Many of us overpromise. And then we end the year depressed and defeated. The good news is that you have over 30 days to consider and give a last push to complete a project or follow through on a relationship before we ring in 2025. Consider all you hoped or dreamed of accomplishing in 2024. What can you realistically still pursue—and what will need to be crossed off the list or shifted into 2025? As you consider, check your priorities. This year has been especially busy for me. I’ve often had to check my priorities under pressure to make sure the urgent or distracting didn’t override the important. Prioritize what is important to accomplish yet this year and move the rest to the new year—or eliminate it. This is a win-win situation. As you map out the rest of this year, you’re getting a head start on the new year. Is there a class in January that’s enrolling now? A devotional book you’d like to start that you can order today? Flights for your dream trip next spring you can book early? Life is short. Make it meaningful. Take time now to pray and listen to God’s leading and wisdom so you can finish the year strong. Finish it in victory. “You crown the year with Your goodness, and your paths drip with abundance.” (Psalm 65:11) Photo by Miguel Bruna on Unsplash
