The Cry – Can You Hear It?

​Can you hear The Cry? The cry of the human heart? It’s calling as you pass the bus stop. It’s looking through the eyes of the girl across the counter, the guy across the room. It’s contemplating the alternatives...

It’s a cry of hurt, a cry of pain. A cry of confusion and loss and hopelessness and depression all rolled into One. Big. Silent. Cry.
 
Save me. 
 
Reach out your hand and rescue me. Show me what it means to live. Lead me into that space where earth and heaven meet, where my inner hunger is met with life; my innate thirst is quenched with love.
 
Food from Heaven, water from the Rock. The Body and the Blood shed for me. The Spirit and the bride come for me.
 
The voice of the Father drawing me. The hands of His children lifting me – 
 
Out of the muck and mire of my sin. Up from the ashes of my wayward life... 
 
Into the arms of a Savior, placed on the seat of a daughter.
 
To see the world from a heavenly place. To hear The Cry of the ones below...
 
And reach out my hand and rescue another. To join the others who hear The Cry and walk in the world with peace-bringing shoes.
 
Can you hear the cry?
 
“Rescue me from the mire, do not let me sink...” Psalm 69:14 NIV
 
 
A prayer: 
Father God, help me to see with Your eyes and hear with Your ears. Help me be aware of the hurts and needs of the people around me. Help me to be an ambassador of Your truth, your light and your hope to a needy world. Help me to hear the cry. In Jesus name, amen.
