How to Have Faith in Hopeless Situations
A baby in the arms of a virgin...
A wayward son coming home. A deceived daughter grasping truth. An overwhelming debt paid off. A miracle at the last moment. Healing. Redemption. Forgiveness. Transformation. Impossible situations turned into testimonies of God’s faithfulness. It can happen in the twinkling of an eye. The Christmas story proves it. Mary had only one question for the angel that came to her. “How can this be?” How will it happen? Unlike her relative Zechariah who doubtfully asked, “How can I be sure of this?” Mary was simply trying to grasp how God would work this miracle. She believed that what God had promised, he was able to perform. Jesus chided the religious leaders for their unbelief. Maybe that’s where we err as well. Not knowing, not fully grasping the meaning of scripture nor the dynamic power wrapped up in them. “Jesus replied, ‘You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.’” Matthew 22:29 NIV Another translation of this scripture uses the word “mistaken” or “deceived.” Are you mistaken? Has the enemy deceived you into a state of doubt and unbelief? Has your heart become dead to the possibility of a divine intervention in your situation? If you’re feeling hopeless – if the situation or the people seem beyond saving – trust. Believe. Hope. Pray. What is God’s will in your situation? What is his heart in the matter? You may be caught in the throes of a mighty battle between good and evil, but you must fight for God’s kingdom to prevail in your life and in the lives of those you love. For nothing is impossible with God. (Luke 1:37) Photo by Marcos Paulo Prado on Unsplash
